Finalists Announced for The Ben Hogan Award presented by Chesapeake Energy
Fowler, Lovemark, and Thompson to attend Hogan Banquet at Colonial Country Club

NORMAN, Okla. —  Chesapeake Energy, in association with Colonial Country Club, The Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), has named Rickie Fowler of Oklahoma State, Southern California’s Jamie Lovemark and Michael Thompson of Alabama finalists for the 2008 The Ben Hogan Award.  The most prestigious award in men’s college golf, The Hogan is presented annually to the top men’s NCAA Division I, II or III, NAIA or junior college golfer taking into account all collegiate and amateur competitions during the last 12 months. Byron Nelson Award presented by Cleveland Golf Finalists Named
Buccolo, Enander Hedin, Grube, James and Sykora top Nelson candidates

NORMAN, Okla. —  The GCAA has announced the finalists for the 2008 Byron Nelson Award presented by Cleveland Golf, in cooperation with the Four Seasons Resort and Club Las Colinas and the Salesmanship Club of Dallas. The finalists are Bruno Buccolo of Oklahoma Christian, Charlotte’s Jonas Enander Hedin, Rob Grube of Stanford, Washington & Lee’s Nathaniel James and Joseph Sykora of Alabama. (More)

European Team Announced for Palmer Cup presented by Monster
Glasgow Golf Club Gailes Links to host event June 26-27


NORMAN, Okla.  —  The European team has been announced for the 2008 Palmer Cup presented by Monster. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 26-27 on the 6,903 yard, par 71 Willie Park Junior designed Glasgow Golf Club Gailes Links when the top collegiate players from the United States tee off against their counterparts from Europe. New Golf World/NIKE Golf Coaches' Polls Announced

NEW YORK, NY - The fourth Golf World/NIKE Golf Coaches’ Polls of the spring season have been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Alabama (Division I), West Florida (Division II), Methodist (Division III) and Oklahoma Christian (NAIA) all retained the top spots in their respective polls.

GCAA Introduces New Rules Corner

NORMAN, Okla. - The GCAA is pleased to announce a new educational initiative highlighting the Rules of Golf.  We have secured a panel of nationally recognized rules officials who will highlight a specific rules situation each month.  Beginning in June, member coaches and their student athletes may submit specific rules situations/questions to the panel, which will be answered in the monthly Rules Corner.  Our “Dream Team” of rule experts includes Lew Blakey, Tim Kilty, Clyde Luther, and John Reis (please see bio pages in the Rules Corner).  Each month’s rules situation and submitted question will be archived for future reference.  Please click on the Rules Corner each month for the latest rules and questions. (More)

Olander Named European Coach for Palmer Cup presented by Monster
Swede to lead Europe at Glasgow Golf Club Gailes Links June 26-27


NORMAN, Okla.  —  Mårten Olander of Sweden has been named coach of the European team for the Palmer Cup presented by Monster. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition will be played June 26-27 on the 6,903 yard, par 71 Willie Park Junior designed Glasgow Golf Club Gailes Links when the top collegiate players from the United States tee off against their counterparts from Europe. The Americans lead the series, 6-4-1, but have lost the last two competitions in Europe. (More)

Jack Nicklaus Award Watch Lists Announced
Honor recognizes top amateur player in college golf

NORMAN, Okla. —  The Golf Coaches Association of America has announced the watch lists for the 2008 Jack Nicklaus Award.  The Nicklaus Award is presented to the Player of the Year in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as the NAIA. (More)

The Farms Golf Club to Host Callaway Golf Collegiate Match Play Championship
Event with new format will be played March 22-24, 2009


NORMAN, Okla.  —  The Farms Golf Club will host the 2009 Callaway Golf Collegiate Match Play Championship announced the Golf Coaches Association of America. The event - previously staged during the fall season - will be played March 22-24 and feature a new format taking into account proposed changes to the Division I championships. (More)
