NCAA Study Reveals Men’s College Golf with Highest Sports Wagering Participation

NORMAN, Okla. – In conjunction with the Faculty Athletics Representatives Association Annual Meeting and Symposium in St. Louis, the NCAA has released the 2008 Study on Collegiate Wagering. This research is the most comprehensive of its kind and includes anonymous data from approximately 20,000 student-athletes.  (More)

GCAA Names Seven to Hall of Fame


NORMAN, Okla. –
The Golf Coaches Association of America will induct seven coaches - Maxie Boles, O.D. Bounds, Devon Brouse, Ronnie Choate, Steve Loy, Delnor Poss and Ben Thompson - in its 2009 Hall of Fame Class. The group will be officially honored at the GCAA Hall of Fame Reception and Awards Banquet Monday, Dec. 7 at the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. (More)


An Early Look at Ben Hogan Award Candidates

NORMAN, Okla.
Each year an initial watch list of potential candidates for the annual Ben Hogan Award is announced, usually in late January or early February.

Sponsored by Chesapeake Energy, in association with Colonial Country Club, The Friends of Golf (FOG) and the Golf Coaches Association of America, the Hogan Award is based on performance in both amateur and college golf events. The timing of the watch list, which usually features 20-25 players,  gives a pretty good indication as to who has been doing what over the previous eight months. (More)


Second Golf World/NIKE Golf Coaches' Polls Announced

NEW YORK, NY — The results second Golf World/NIKE Golf Coaches' Polls of the fall have been announced. Oklahoma State (Division I) retained its top ranking, while Barry (Division II), Methodist (Division III) and British Columbia (NAIA) all took over the top spots in their respective polls.

Moran Recipient of GCAA Meritorious Service Award


NORMAN, Okla.
Villanova assistant men’s golf coach Jake Moran has been named recipient of the GCAA Meritorious Service Award. Moran is in his second season as assistant coach after serving as head coach for 15 seasons. (More)



GCAA Names Academic National Champions

NORMAN, Okla. – East Tennessee State (Division I), St. Mary’s of Texas (Division II), Gustavus Adolphus (Division III), Savannah College of Art and Design (NAIA), McLennan CC (NJCAA DI) and Tyler JC (NJCAA DII) have been named Academic National Champions for their respective divisions announced the GCAA. East Tennessee State posted the highest recorded team GPA with 3.78. A total of 82 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher and earned All-Academic Team recognition. (More)
