Barry New Top Team in Golf World/NIKE Golf Division II Coaches' Poll

NEW YORK, NY—The second Golf World/NIKE Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll of the fall season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions I, III and the NAIA, will appear in the October 19th issue of Golf World.  Barry is the new number one team in the poll, earning 12 of the 17 first-place votes.

The Buccaneers finished first at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational the first week of October, winning by eight strokes after finishing third at the State Farm Laker Collegiate to start the fall season.

Georgia College, the top-ranked school in the previous poll, dropped to No. 2. North Alabama (No. 3), Lynn (No. 4) and St. Edward’s (No. 5) round out the top-five. St. Edward’s moved from T-17 after winning the Territory Classic and then finishing third in the McDonald Cup, a D-I tournament.

Valdosta State (No. 6), Chico State (No. 7), Belmont Abbey (No. 9) and Barton (No. 10) also moved into the top-10, after being ranked Nos. 20, 16, 22 and NR, respectively, in the previous coaches’ poll.

Newberry (No. 14), Dallas Baptist (No. 19), Abilene Christian (No. 21), Western Washington (No. 22) and Central Missouri (T-25) moved into the top-25.
