Columbus State Takes Over Top Spot in Golf World/NIKE Golf Division II Coaches' Poll

NEW YORK, NY-The third Golf World/NIKE Golf Division II Coaches’ Poll of the spring season has been released, combining the resources of Golf World magazine, NIKE Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The complete results, including results from Divisions I, III and the NAIA, will appear in the April 6th issue of Golf World.  Columbus State, one of six different schools to receive first-place votes, is the new top team in the D-II poll.

The Cougars finished runner-up at the Bobcat Invitational last week, the fifth time they’ve either won or come in second in nine starts this season. The only time Columbus State failed to record a top-five finish was at the Ron Smith/USF Invitational, a tournament with predominantly Division I opponents.

Georgia College received seven first-place votes, helping them jump from No. 8 to No. 2. The Bobcats have won their last two events, the Southeastern Collegiate and the Bobcat Invitational.

Central Oklahoma (No. 3) USC Aiken (No. 4) and Nova Southeastern (No. 5) round out the top-five.

Lynn (No. 8) and CSU-San Bernardino (No. 9) cracked the top-10, after being ranked Nos. 11 and 14, respectively, in the previous coaches’ poll. Rollins (No. 24) and Northeastern State (No. 25) moved into the top-25.
