Indiana Captures Top Seed at Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Indiana carded a 6-under-par 282 to earn the top seed at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship. The Hoosiers moved from a tie for 10th place and cleared the field by three strokes at the par 72, 2911 yard The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

San Diego State and Florida State tied for second but the Aztecs claimed the second seed by virtue of the drop -score tiebreaker. Texas A&M placed fourth in medal play and will face UCLA in the opening round of match play after the Bruins fired 4–under 284 to move from 16th. Texas Tech earned the sixth seed and will face the Seminoles. Middle Tennessee, Stanford and Arizona State tied for seventh with the Blue Raiders claiming the seventh seed, the Cardinal the eighth and the Sun Devils dropping to the consolation bracket after the tiebreaker.
                 
Arizona State will face Duke in the consolation bracket. Other consolation pairings include (10) San Diego – (15) UC Irvine, (11) Chattanooga – (14) Louisville and (12) Alabama – (13) Charlotte.
                 
David Erdy of Indiana earned individual medalist honors after posting a tournament best 65 in the second round to bring his two-round total to 7-under 137. Texas A&M’s Bronson Burgoon and Erik Flores of UCLA were the only other players to finish under par, tying for second at 4-under 140.
                 
The Match Play portion of the event begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Monday, March 23.
