First Round Complete Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship
Arizona State leads at even par

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. –Arizona State posted an even-par 288 to take the first round lead at the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship. The Sun Devils overcame steady winds with strong gusts and mid-round showers at the par 72, 2911 yard The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. to take a two-stroke lead over second-place Texas A&M. The second and final round of medal play is currently under way.

Stephan Gross and Jesper Kennegard carded 71 each for Arizona State while Knut Borsheim and Tristan Bierenbroodspot posted 73s. Texas A&M sits in second at 290 (+2) and is followed by host school San Diego (290, +4), San Diego State (293, +5), Florida State (295, +7), Stanford (297, +9), Middle Tennessee (298, +10) and Chattanooga (299, +11). Texas Tech checked in at ninth (301, +130) while Alabama and Indiana are tied for 10th (303, +15). Duke posted a 16-over-par, 304 for 12th and is followed by a three-way tie between Charlotte, Louisville and UC Irvine (308, +20). UCLA completed the standings (309, +21)

Individually, four players – Ian Coffman of San Diego, San Diego State’s Andrew Cooley, Florida State’s Drew Kittleson and Andrea Pavan of Texas A&M – are tied for the lead at two-under 70.
