Middle Tennessee Advances to Championship Match; Will Face Indiana/UCLA Winner at Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship
RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – Middle Tennessee has punched one ticket to the title match of the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship but will have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out if it will face top-seed Indiana or UCLA after play was suspended due to darkness at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. The semifinals will continue at 7:30 Tuesday morning.
The Bruins and Hoosiers have three matches remaining, all with two holes remaining. Indiana’s Seth Brandon and Alex Martin are 1-up in their two matches while UCLA’s Gregor Main holds a 1-up advantage in his match. The two teams have split their completed matches with Hoosier David Erdy winning 2 and 1 and the Bruin’s Connor Driscoll posting a 4 and 3 victory.
Middle Tennessee’s run to the final was powered by a 4-1 victory of Florida State. Chas Narramore gave the Blue Raiders an early lead with a 7 and 6 victory. Rick Cochran (4 and 3), Kent Bulle (2 and 1) and Craig Smith (3 and 2) also won for Middle Tennessee.
Stanford downed Texas A&M, 3-2, and will face San Diego State who beat Texas Tech 3-2.
Alabama, San Diego, Arizona State and Chattanooga all won in the consolation bracket.
The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m.
