The Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Golf Championship – the longest running international collegiate golf event in the world – will tee off its 32nd anniversary at the Tijeras Creek Golf Club July 11-13. First held in 1975 at Narashino Country Club in Japan , the US-Japan matches have been held annually in cooperation with the Japanese Student Golf Association.

 

These matches feature outstanding men's and women's college players from the United States and Japan . Founded to help promote international goodwill through the game of golf, former U.S. players include Curtis Strange, Jay Haas, Peter Jacobsen, Brad Faxon, Juli Inkster, Davis Love III, Steve Stricker, Dottie Pepper, Todd Hamilton, David Toms, Ben Curtis, Bob Tway and Scott Verplank.

 

Team USA claimed a 37-23 victory in 2006 at the Sun Hills Country Club in Tochigi Perfecture, Japan . Team USA managed to secure 17 of the last 24 points to win the competition.

 

This year's matches at Tijeras Creek mark just the seventh time the matches have been staged in the United States with the Americans claiming all six previous competitions on U.S. soil.

 

The United States holds a 23-8 lead in the all-time series, including 11-straight wins.
